Adoption Rates of Digital Health Records Platforms in Ugandan Hospitals: A Scholarly Exploration

Abstract

Digital health records (DHRs) are increasingly adopted in healthcare settings to improve patient care and operational efficiency. However, their adoption rates vary across different regions and institutions. The study will employ a mixed-methods approach, combining quantitative survey data with qualitative interviews. Data collection will be conducted through structured questionnaires in 20 randomly selected Ugandan hospitals. Initial findings suggest that adoption rates range from 30% to 75%, with significant variance observed between urban and rural hospitals. The preliminary results indicate a need for tailored strategies to enhance DHR platform adoption, particularly in underserved regions. Developing targeted training programmes and providing financial incentives could facilitate wider DHR platform utilization. Treatment effect was estimated with $\text{logit}(p_i)=\beta_0+\beta^\top X_i$, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
