Methodological Assessment of Emergency Care Units in Uganda: A Panel Data Approach to Clinical Outcome Measurement
Abstract
Emergency care units (ECUs) in Uganda face challenges in providing timely and effective treatment to patients with varying medical needs. A panel-data regression model was employed to analyse the impact of various factors on patient recovery times and survival rates in ECUs across Uganda. Robust standard errors were used for inference. The study revealed that early access to care significantly reduced patient mortality by 25% (95% CI: -30, -18) compared to delayed access. This research provides valuable insights into the effectiveness of ECUs in Uganda and highlights the importance of prompt medical intervention. Healthcare policymakers should prioritise improving infrastructure and training for ECUs to enhance patient outcomes. Emergency Care Units, Panel Data, Clinical Outcomes, Mortality Reduction, Early Access Treatment effect was estimated with $\text{logit}(p_i)=\beta_0+\beta^\top X_i$, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
