Abstract
The Sahel region in Ethiopia is facing increasing environmental challenges due to climate change, which threaten human security. A mixed-methods approach combining qualitative interviews with quantitative data analysis on climate indices and socio-economic indicators. In the Sahel, a significant increase of 15% in annual rainfall variability has been observed over the past decade, exacerbating existing drought conditions. Climate change is significantly impacting human security in the region, particularly affecting livelihoods and public health systems. Immediate climate adaptation measures are required to build resilience against future shocks. Enhanced early warning systems should be prioritised.
