Abstract

Urbanization in African cities, particularly informal settlements, has profound implications for social welfare systems. A comprehensive literature review of existing studies on urbanization impacts within the field of African Studies. This study highlights the critical need for inclusive policy frameworks that address the specific needs of informal settlements within broader urban development strategies. Policy makers should prioritise investments in community-led initiatives aimed at improving service delivery and accessibility in informal settlements.
