Abstract

The study explores the role of African universities in Zambia's knowledge production and dissemination within the field of African Studies. Qualitative research methods were employed, including semi-structured interviews with university faculty and administrators, document analysis of university publications, and focus group discussions among midwifery students. University collaborations have significantly influenced the direction of knowledge production towards evidence-based interventions for maternal health in Zambia, particularly in rural areas where access to healthcare is limited. African universities play a pivotal role in shaping the academic landscape and policy discussions regarding maternal health education and research in Zambia. Further collaborations between African universities and local institutions are recommended to strengthen knowledge dissemination and improve healthcare outcomes.
