Telemedicine in Mental Health Care for Chronic Conditions in Urban South Africa,

Abstract
Telemedicine has emerged as a promising solution for improving access to mental health care in urban South Africa, particularly among patients with chronic conditions. A comprehensive literature review was conducted using databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar to identify studies published between and . Articles were selected based on relevance to telemedicine in mental health care for chronic conditions. The analysis revealed a significant improvement in patient satisfaction rates (75%) with telemedicine services compared to traditional face-to-face consultations, indicating that telemedicine can enhance access and engagement among patients with chronic conditions. Telemedicine appears effective in providing mental health care for chronic conditions, particularly when compared to traditional methods. However, further research is needed to address technical issues and improve patient adherence. Investment should be made in developing telemedicine infrastructure and training healthcare providers on the use of these services. Additionally, ongoing monitoring and support are essential to ensure sustainable service delivery.
