Abstract

Community health insurance (CHI) programmes have been implemented in various countries to improve access and equity in healthcare. A mixed-methods approach combining quantitative survey data with qualitative interviews was employed to evaluate programme effectiveness and user satisfaction. CHI significantly increased access to essential healthcare services, particularly for vulnerable groups such as the elderly (85% reduction in out-of-pocket expenses). Community health insurance has contributed positively to reducing disparities in rural Senegal's health outcomes. Continued support and expansion of CHI programmes are recommended to ensure equitable healthcare access across all socioeconomic groups. community health insurance, health equity, rural Senegal, mixed-methods approach Treatment effect was estimated with $\text{logit}(p_i)=\beta_0+\beta^\top X_i$, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
