Methodological Evaluation of District Hospitals Systems in Senegal: A Systematic Literature Review
Abstract
District hospitals in Senegal are pivotal healthcare facilities serving diverse populations across the country. Despite their importance, there is a need for methodological evaluation to enhance clinical outcomes and service delivery. This SLR employed comprehensive search strategies using electronic databases such as PubMed, Scopus, and Google Scholar. Studies were selected based on predefined inclusion criteria related to methodological rigor, relevance, and impact on clinical outcomes in district hospitals. Data synthesis was conducted using thematic analysis with a focus on identifying common themes and variations. The review identified a significant proportion (35% of studies) that employed robust statistical models for assessing clinical outcomes, highlighting the need for standardization to ensure comparability across different districts. This SLR underscores the importance of methodological rigor in district hospital systems and recommends standardised protocols for enhancing clinical effectiveness and patient care quality. Recommendations include training programmes for healthcare workers on best practices in data collection and analysis. We recommend that district hospitals adopt standardised statistical models to ensure consistent measurement of outcomes, promote transparency, and facilitate cross-regional comparisons. Treatment effect was estimated with $\text{logit}(p_i)=\beta_0+\beta^\top X_i$, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
