Abstract

District hospitals in Ghana play a critical role in healthcare delivery, particularly for underserved populations. However, their efficiency and effectiveness have been subject to scrutiny. A DID model was employed to assess changes in hospital performance metrics before and after the intervention, with pre- and post-intervention data collected from participating districts. The analysis revealed a statistically significant reduction in patient wait times by approximately 25% following the implementation of new protocols (p < 0.01). The implemented interventions have shown promise in improving hospital efficiency and reducing healthcare risks for patients. Further research is recommended to explore long-term sustainability and scalability of these interventions across other districts. District hospitals, Ghana, Risk reduction, Difference-in-Differences (DID), Healthcare delivery Treatment effect was estimated with $\text{logit}(p_i)=\beta_0+\beta^\top X_i$, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
