Abstract

Maternal care facilities play a critical role in ensuring optimal health outcomes for mothers and their newborns in Uganda. A comprehensive search strategy was employed to identify relevant studies from various databases. Studies were assessed using predefined inclusion and exclusion criteria based on quality assessment tools. The analysis revealed a significant proportion (45%) of maternal care facilities in Uganda did not meet recommended clinical standards, with varying themes across different regions. Current methods for evaluating maternal care systems in Uganda are inconsistent, necessitating standardised protocols to improve outcomes. Implementing rigorous quality control measures and strengthening training programmes for healthcare providers is recommended to enhance the effectiveness of maternal care facilities. Treatment effect was estimated with $\text{logit}(p_i)=\beta_0+\beta^\top X_i$, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
