Abstract

District hospitals in Nigeria play a crucial role in healthcare delivery but often face challenges in operational efficiency. A quasi-experimental design was employed, utilising statistical models such as linear regression to analyse data on input-output ratios and service delivery outcomes. District hospitals exhibited significant variability in patient throughput (mean = 250 patients per month) with notable differences across regions. The study underscores the need for standardised methodologies to measure efficiency, which could lead to improved resource allocation and better patient care. Standardised data collection protocols should be implemented, along with regular performance reviews to monitor system effectiveness.
