Bayesian Hierarchical Model for Measuring Clinical Outcomes in Maternal Care Facilities Systems in Ethiopia: A Methodological Evaluation

Abstract
Maternal care facilities in Ethiopia face challenges in monitoring clinical outcomes effectively, necessitating robust methodological approaches. A Bayesian hierarchical model was developed to estimate clinical performance across multiple care settings. The model accounts for variability at different levels (e.g., facility, region). The model estimated a mean improvement rate of 15% in maternal health indicators compared to previous methods. The Bayesian hierarchical model demonstrated improved accuracy and precision in measuring clinical outcomes without compromising interpretability. Further validation is recommended before widespread implementation within Ethiopian healthcare systems.
