Methodological Evaluation of Maternal Care Facilities Systems in Uganda Using Difference-in-Differences Approach

Maternal care facilities in Uganda face challenges related to quality of care and patient outcomes. A meta-analysis was conducted, employing the difference-in-differences model to analyse data from multiple studies on maternal care effectiveness in Uganda. The study aimed at quantifying the impact of improved care protocols over time. The analysis revealed significant improvements (p < 0.05) in neonatal survival rates after implementing new interventions, with a confidence interval indicating that these measures led to an increase of 12% in neonatal survival outcomes. The findings suggest that the difference-in-differences model is effective for evaluating system changes and clinical impacts in maternal care settings. Health policymakers should prioritise resource allocation towards implementing and monitoring quality improvement initiatives within facilities to enhance patient outcomes.
