Water Quality Monitoring and Treatment Technologies for Safe Drinking Water in Lagos Metro, Nigeria, 2007

Abstract

Water quality in Lagos Metro is a significant public health concern, with inadequate monitoring leading to unsafe drinking water. Field sampling was conducted at multiple locations across the metro area, using advanced analytical techniques including $H_2O_2$ degradation of contaminants as a key method. A significant proportion (75%) of sampled water bodies exceeded safe drinking water standards for total dissolved solids and turbidity. Current monitoring practices are insufficient to ensure safe drinking water, necessitating enhanced treatment technologies. Invest in advanced water treatment facilities and promote public education on water safety measures.
