The Historical Foundations underpinning Contemporary African Governance Challenges in South Africa

Abstract
This study examines the historical foundations that underpin contemporary governance challenges in South Africa from an African Studies perspective. Qualitative research methods were employed, including archival studies and interviews with scholars and policymakers. Themes emerged around the legacy of apartheid and its impact on current political structures and public service delivery. The study highlights how historical injustices continue to influence contemporary governance challenges in South Africa. Policy recommendations focus on addressing institutional biases inherited from apartheid, aiming for more equitable governance practices.
