Entrepreneurship Ecosystems and Innovation Hubs in Senegal's East African Context

This study examines entrepreneurship ecosystems and innovation hubs in Senegal within an East African context, contributing to the field of African Studies. Qualitative research methods were employed, including in-depth interviews with key stakeholders and document analysis of relevant policies and programmes. Data was triangulated for robustness. A notable theme emerged regarding the role of government support through grants and tax incentives, which significantly increased investment flows into local startups (70% of respondents reported enhanced funding). The study highlights effective collaborative models between academia, industry, and government to stimulate innovation hubs in Senegal. Recommendation is for policymakers to further integrate these support mechanisms into national development strategies to maximise impact on entrepreneurship and innovation.
