Health System Resilience during Epidemics in Democratic Republic of Congo: A Comparative African Perspective,
Abstract
The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has faced numerous epidemics in recent decades, highlighting the resilience and vulnerabilities of its health systems. A comparative study using secondary data sources from official records and published articles. Health system response varied significantly across regions, with urban areas generally more resilient due to better healthcare infrastructure and resources. Urban health systems in DRC demonstrated greater resilience during epidemics compared to rural areas, necessitating targeted interventions for improved overall resilience. Investment in rural health infrastructure is essential to enhance epidemic response capabilities across the country.
