Impact Assessment of Renewable Energy Access on School Attendance Among Rural Ethiopian Children: A Scholarly Commentary

Abstract
Rural areas in Ethiopia often face challenges related to energy access, which can affect educational opportunities for children. The study employed a mixed-methods approach involving surveys and interviews with parents, teachers, and students in selected rural schools to gather data on energy access and educational participation. While the study found a positive correlation between renewable energy availability and improved educational participation, further research is needed to understand long-term impacts and sustainability factors. Investments in rural electrification should be prioritised as part of broader socio-economic development strategies. Collaboration between government agencies, NGOs, and private sector entities can enhance the effectiveness of these programmes.
