Abstract
This commentary examines community-based mental health support initiatives in rural Ethiopian villages with a focus on youth mental health. No empirical results are presented; instead, the commentary synthesizes existing literature and field observations from rural Ethiopian villages over a two-year period. Despite initial successes, sustained community engagement and financial stability are crucial for the long-term viability of these programmes. Investment in local education and training to build a sustainable workforce is recommended alongside securing stable funding sources.
