Health Insurance Expansion and Healthcare Access among Rural Senegalese Women: A Policy Impact Analysis

Abstract
In Senegal, rural women face significant barriers to accessing healthcare services, particularly in underserved regions. The analysis employs a logistic regression model with robust standard errors to examine the relationship between health insurance coverage and healthcare utilization. Health insurance expanded coverage by 40% in rural areas, leading to an increase in healthcare service utilization by 35% among women who enrolled in the scheme. The policy expansion significantly improved access to healthcare services for rural Senegalese women, though disparities persist. Further efforts are needed to ensure equitable distribution of benefits and address unmet needs within the expanding health insurance programme.
