Abstract
Urban farming initiatives have become increasingly prevalent in Lagos, Nigeria's largest city. These projects aim to address food security challenges faced by low-income residents. The research employed participant observation, semi-structured interviews, and focus group discussions with community leaders, farmers, and residents. Data collection took place over a period of six months. Farmers reported that approximately 70% of their produce was consumed by the local community, highlighting the initiative's direct impact on food security. The findings underscore the critical role of urban farming in providing sustainable livelihoods and addressing food insecurity in Lagos’s low-income neighborhoods. Local government bodies should provide more support to these initiatives through policy endorsement and resource allocation.
