Gender-Specific Entrepreneurship Support Initiatives in Rwandan Urban Areas: A Framework for Job Creation Potential Analysis

Rwanda has made significant strides in promoting entrepreneurship, with a particular focus on women's economic empowerment through various initiatives. The study employed qualitative research methods to gather data from interviews with stakeholders including government officials, entrepreneurs, and community leaders. Gender disparities were identified in access to funding and mentorship opportunities, particularly favoring male entrepreneurs. This imbalance affects the overall job creation potential of the initiatives. Women's entrepreneurship support programmes are essential for inclusive economic development but require targeted interventions to address existing biases. The government should implement policies that ensure gender parity in funding and mentorship, thereby enhancing the effectiveness of these initiatives.
