Abstract

Traditional medicine plays a significant role in healthcare systems across Africa, including Zimbabwean ones. The research employs comparative analysis, drawing on data from various Zimbabwean health institutions and interviews with stakeholders. Traditional medicine consultations accounted for 20% of all medical visits in selected clinics, indicating its substantial presence. The study highlights the need for formal recognition and integration of traditional medicine into mainstream healthcare systems to enhance accessibility and effectiveness. Policy recommendations include supporting research on traditional medicines and advocating for their inclusion in national health policies.
