Abstract

Land reform is a critical component in socio-economic transformation, particularly in contexts where agrarian structures are deeply entrenched and historically unequal. The research employs a mixed-methods approach combining quantitative surveys with qualitative interviews among farmers across various regions in Congo. Data collection was conducted between January and March . Findings indicate that land reform has led to an increase of 15% in agricultural productivity, but disparities remain concerning income distribution between former landowners and new beneficiaries. Despite initial challenges, the study concludes that land reform can contribute positively to socio-economic transformation when structured with equitable policies and support mechanisms. Policy makers should prioritise equitable redistribution of resources alongside targeted social welfare programmes to mitigate potential negative impacts on vulnerable communities.
