Mobilizing Knowledge for Digital Literacy Among Rural Senegalese Elders: A One-Year Replication Index Analysis

Abstract

Rural Senegalese elders often face digital literacy challenges due to limited access to technology and training programmes. The study employed qualitative research methods, including semi-structured interviews with 50 participants from three randomly selected villages in rural Senegal. Data were analysed using thematic content analysis to identify patterns and themes related to knowledge mobilization efforts. A significant proportion (72%) of respondents reported an improvement in their digital literacy skills after participating in the knowledge mobilization programme, with a notable increase in confidence levels regarding technology use among participants aged over 65 years. The study underscores the importance of tailored and sustained knowledge mobilization efforts to bridge the digital divide for rural Senegalese elders. Future research should expand the sample size and explore long-term impacts of these programmes on community integration and economic opportunities.
