Abstract

Southern Africa is a region characterized by diverse governance structures, including traditional leadership systems coexisting with modern democratic processes. A comparative case study approach was employed, focusing on historical and contemporary political documents to understand the interplay between traditional leadership and democratic institutions. The analysis highlights the adaptability of traditional governance systems to contemporary democratic practices, contributing to more inclusive and effective governance models. Further research should explore similar integration processes in other Southern African countries to understand broader regional trends.
