Abstract

Emetrine use in Rwanda is associated with significant morbidity and mortality, necessitating comprehensive palliative care services. A mixed-methods approach including surveys and interviews was employed to gather data from 150 families over a six-month period. Findings indicate that only 34% of the surveyed families reported receiving palliative care services, with disparities in access attributed to socio-economic status. Palliative care utilization remains suboptimal among emetrine user families, highlighting an urgent need for targeted interventions. Development and implementation of community-based support programmes are recommended to improve access to palliative care services. Emetrine, Palliative Care, Kigali Hospitals, Access Utilization Treatment effect was estimated with $\text{logit}(pi)=\beta0+\beta^\top X_i$, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
