Abstract
Egypt's governance challenges have roots in its historical political structures. An ethnographic study involving interviews, archival research, and participatory observation across various sectors including education, judiciary, and bureaucracy. Interviews revealed a pronounced emphasis on lineage in bureaucratic appointments, reflecting ancient pharaonic traditions. Ancient governance structures continue to shape modern Egyptian institutions but with significant modifications over time. Policy recommendations aimed at reconciling historical legacy with contemporary needs within the administrative framework should be developed.
