Abstract

Ethiopia faces significant visual health challenges, particularly in rural areas where access to healthcare services is limited. A mixed-methods approach combining quantitative data from surveys and qualitative insights through interviews with stakeholders was employed. The intervention led to a 25% reduction in avoidable blindness cases, with an estimated 80% coverage of the target population. Community-wide eye health care programmes can significantly improve visual health outcomes in rural Ethiopia. Further training for healthcare providers and expansion of programme reach are recommended to achieve greater impact. Treatment effect was estimated with $\text{logit}(p_i)=\beta_0+\beta^\top X_i$, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
