Abstract

Nigeria's district hospitals face significant challenges in managing their healthcare systems efficiently and effectively. A mixed-methods approach combining quantitative data analysis with qualitative interviews to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of healthcare delivery systems in selected districts. District hospitals reported an average reduction in patient wait times by 25% after implementing new scheduling protocols, though variability existed among different regions. The quasi-experimental design revealed promising initial outcomes for risk reduction but also highlighted ongoing challenges that require further investigation and intervention strategies. Further research should include a longitudinal study to monitor the sustainability of implemented changes and explore additional cost-effective solutions. Treatment effect was estimated with $\text{logit}(p_i)=\beta_0+\beta^\top X_i$, and uncertainty reported using confidence-interval based inference.
