Abstract

The Kenyan Highlands face significant challenges due to climate change, necessitating effective adaptation strategies. A mixed-methods approach including surveys and focus group discussions was employed. Quantitative data were analysed using descriptive statistics to identify patterns among respondents. Findings indicated that 75% of participants viewed traditional farming methods as the most effective adaptation strategy, with a significant correlation (\(r = 0\).82) between age and preference for local knowledge integration in climate change solutions. The survey methodology successfully captured villagers' perspectives on climate change adaptation, emphasising the importance of local wisdom in climate resilience efforts. Further research should focus on scaling up successful adaptation techniques identified through this study to broader communities in the Kenyan Highlands.
