Afrofuturism is a contemporary cultural movement that explores visions of African futures through interdisciplinary lenses. The analysis is theoretical and draws upon existing Afrofuturist scholarship and case studies from African contexts to identify themes relevant to São Tomé and Príncipe’s socio-economic landscape. Themes such as environmental sustainability and technological integration are prominent in the literature, indicating a growing interest among scholars in exploring these aspects of future development in Africa.
