Abstract

This study examines the economic blocs within African regions with a specific focus on Algeria. A survey research approach was employed to gather data from various stakeholders within Algeria, including government officials, private sector representatives, and academic experts. Questionnaires were distributed online and through face-to-face interviews for comprehensive coverage of the regional economic landscape. The findings indicate a significant disparity in the level of participation among different regions in the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) compared to other blocs such as the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA). The study concludes that while some regions are more engaged with certain economic blocs, there is potential for increased engagement across all blocs to enhance regional integration. Recommendations include fostering greater awareness among stakeholders about the benefits of joining specific economic blocs and encouraging policy reforms to facilitate smoother participation in these blocs.
