Abstract

Historical Foundations of Contemporary Governance Challenges in Uganda An exploratory qualitative research approach was employed to analyse archival data and secondary sources related to Ugandan political history. A key theme identified was the legacy of colonial administrative structures influencing modern governance frameworks, particularly in rural areas where traditional leadership systems were subsumed by colonial rule. The historical analysis reveals how past policies have shaped present-day governance issues, indicating a need for a more nuanced understanding of contemporary challenges. Policy recommendations should consider the integration of indigenous governance structures into modern administrative processes to enhance effectiveness and legitimacy.
