Open-source online learning platforms have gained popularity for their cost-effectiveness and accessibility in education. A mixed-methods approach including surveys and focus groups was employed to gather data from a representative sample of schools in the region. The analysis revealed that 75% of participating children regularly used open-source platforms for learning, with significant improvements in math scores (up to 20%) among those consistently using these resources compared to non-users. While initial engagement was high, there were challenges related to parental support and technical issues which need addressing for sustained benefits. Investment should be prioritised in training teachers on how to integrate open-source platforms effectively into the curriculum and improving digital infrastructure to enhance student access and experience.
