Abstract

The business environment in Niger is characterized by a complex interplay of governmental policies and market dynamics. A qualitative study involving semi-structured interviews with policymakers, business leaders, and academic researchers to understand the impact of government regulations on business operations in Niger. Policymakers often face significant constraints in implementing regulatory frameworks that are effective yet practical for small businesses operating in rural areas of Niger. This hinders the alignment between policy intent and actual business practices. There is a need for more tailored policy measures to support sustainable business development while accounting for local contexts and resource limitations. Stakeholders should collaborate to develop evidence-based policies that consider both macroeconomic goals and microbusiness realities. This includes enhancing communication channels between policymakers and practitioners.
