The Impact of Innovated Livestock Feeding Techniques on Smallholder Dairy Farmers in Tanzania: Outputs and Production Enhancement

Abstract

The impact of improved livestock feeding techniques on smallholder dairy farmers in Tanzania has been a topic of interest due to their significant role in rural livelihoods and food security. A comprehensive literature review was conducted using databases such as PubMed, Google Scholar, and African Journals Online (AJOL). An analysis of the reviewed studies revealed that an increase in milk yield by up to 20% among farmers who adopted these techniques compared to those not adopting them. The review underscores the potential for enhancing productivity through targeted livestock feed interventions, which can contribute significantly to smallholder dairy farming outcomes in Tanzania. Farmers should be provided with training and access to affordable feed resources to maximise benefits from these techniques. Government support is also recommended to facilitate wider adoption. The empirical specification follows $Y=\beta_0+\beta^\top X+\varepsilon$, and inference is reported with uncertainty-aware statistical criteria.
