Methodological Evaluation of District Hospitals Systems in Ghana Using Difference-in-Differences for System Reliability Analysis

District hospitals in Ghana play a crucial role in healthcare provision, yet their operational reliability can be compromised by various systemic issues. A Difference-in-Differences (DiD) regression analysis was employed to assess changes in service delivery metrics across two time periods, pre- and post-intervention, using anonymized data from district hospitals. The DiD model controlled for potential confounders such as regional variations and temporal trends. The application of the DiD model revealed a statistically significant improvement (p < 0.05) in outpatient visit rates following an intervention aimed at enhancing facility management protocols, indicating enhanced system reliability over time. This methodological evaluation highlights the effectiveness of using DiD for assessing systemic improvements within district hospitals and underscores the importance of regular reviews to maintain high standards of service delivery. The findings suggest that ongoing monitoring and periodic interventions are necessary to sustain observed improvements in hospital system reliability. Further research should explore the long-term impacts of such measures on patient outcomes.
