Afrofuturism as a Lens to Analyse African Futures in Guinea
Abstract
Afrofuturism is a lens that explores speculative futures for African societies, often focusing on technology and cultural identity. The analysis draws from existing literature and interviews with policy-makers in Guinea to explore how Afrofuturist concepts can inform current policy discussions. Interviews revealed a significant interest among Guinean policymakers in incorporating futuristic, culturally resonant approaches into their planning processes. Afrofuturism offers a promising framework for envisioning and implementing sustainable development strategies in Guinea. Policy-makers should consider integrating Afrofuturist elements into their strategic plans to enhance cultural relevance and technological innovation.
