Health Systems Resilience in Senegal's Response to Epidemics: A Qualitative Study
Abstract
Senegal has faced various epidemics over recent years, highlighting the need to understand its health systems' resilience in responding effectively. A qualitative study employing semi-structured interviews with healthcare professionals and policymakers to capture insights into system dynamics during epidemics. Healthcare workers reported a significant increase in workload (70%) due to pandemic-related tasks, underscoring the strain on frontline personnel. This study underscores the importance of robust training programmes for healthcare staff and improved coordination between government agencies. Investment in human resource development and enhanced inter-agency collaboration are recommended to bolster future epidemic responses.
