Abstract

Rural communities in northern Nigeria face significant challenges in accessing clean water sources, leading to a prevalence of water-related diseases such as cholera and typhoid. The study employed mixed-methods research, including quantitative data collection through surveys and interviews, and qualitative analysis of campaign materials. A total of fifteen villages were selected for the evaluation. Significant reductions in water-related diseases were observed among participants who received intervention compared to control groups (p < 0.05). Water-related diseases prevention campaigns have demonstrated positive impacts on health outcomes in rural northern Nigerian communities, particularly when comprehensive and sustained over an extended period. Future interventions should incorporate community engagement strategies and ensure continuous supply of clean water sources to sustain long-term benefits.
