Abstract

In recent years, Ethiopia has faced multiple public health crises including epidemics that have highlighted vulnerabilities in its healthcare system. A qualitative analysis was conducted to examine policy responses, community engagement strategies, and infrastructure improvements following major epidemics in Ethiopia. The study identified a significant increase (30%) in community participation in vaccination drives post-epidemic, which contributed to improved immunity rates among the population. This research underscores the importance of robust community engagement and adaptive health system policies in enhancing resilience against future epidemics. Health policymakers should prioritise strengthening community-based healthcare networks and implementing flexible public health strategies that can be swiftly adapted to emerging threats.
