Abstract
Renewable energy micro-grids have become a significant solution for off-grid villages in Kenya, addressing power access and economic development. A qualitative study employing semi-structured interviews with community leaders and village residents to understand perceptions and experiences related to power supply and economic benefits. Interviews revealed that approximately 70% of households experienced improved access to electricity, leading to enhanced agricultural productivity and income generation activities. Renewable energy micro-grids significantly enhance local economic activities by improving access to reliable power sources in off-grid villages of Kenya. Policy makers should prioritise funding for renewable energy projects that directly benefit rural communities, alongside infrastructure development initiatives.
