Abstract
Urbanization in Kampala, Uganda, has led to significant waste generation, posing challenges for effective waste management. A mixed-methods approach combining quantitative data collection and qualitative interviews with stakeholders was employed. The implementation of new recycling initiatives resulted in a 20% reduction in municipal solid waste sent to landfills, indicating effective diversion strategies. Innovative waste management systems have shown promise in mitigating environmental pollution in Kampala’s urban areas. Further research should be conducted to assess long-term impacts and scalability of these interventions. Waste Management, Urbanization, Environmental Impact, Kampala, Innovation
