Environmental Justice in Resource-rich Mali: A Scholarly Review of Recent Movements and Their Impacts
Abstract
Environmental justice movements in resource-rich nations are gaining attention as they seek to address environmental degradation and social inequalities exacerbated by natural resources. The analysis draws from existing literature and case studies of environmental justice initiatives in Mali, focusing on scholarly reviews and reports. Recent movements have emphasised community-led conservation efforts and advocacy for equitable resource distribution, often targeting water scarcity and land disputes. These movements demonstrate the potential for grassroots engagement to challenge traditional power structures and promote sustainable development policies. Further research should explore how these movements can be scaled up and integrated into national policy frameworks for environmental justice.
