Abstract

The historical roots of contemporary governance challenges in Gambia are a subject of interest within African Studies. A scholarly review approach is adopted to analyse the theoretical framework, data sources, and analytical methods employed by the author. Themes such as colonial legacies and traditional governance systems are identified as prominent factors shaping current governance structures in Gambia. The book highlights the importance of understanding historical contexts for addressing contemporary governance issues in Africa. Future research should consider integrating interdisciplinary approaches to further elucidate these complex historical dynamics.
