Abstract

Community health workers (CHWs) have been integrated into primary healthcare systems in northern Nigerian villages to support local health delivery. A longitudinal study design was employed, collecting data from multiple regions across northern Nigeria, encompassing qualitative and quantitative methodologies. The integration of CHWs into primary healthcare systems has led to positive health outcomes and community engagement, warranting continued support and further research. Policy makers should consider extending the benefits of CHW programmes to underserved rural areas while ensuring consistent training and supervision.
