Abstract

Urban Zanzibar in Kenya is grappling with adolescent reproductive health knowledge gaps, necessitating targeted interventions to address this critical social issue. The research employs standardised educational assessments to evaluate the effectiveness of existing initiatives, focusing on a sample population from selected schools across urban Zanzibar. A notable increase was observed in adolescents' knowledge scores post-intervention, with a 25% rise in correct answers related to reproductive health topics compared to pre-assessment. The findings underscore the efficacy of targeted interventions in enhancing adolescent reproductive health knowledge, suggesting their potential for broader implementation across urban Zanzibar and beyond. Based on these results, policymakers are recommended to allocate resources towards more comprehensive educational programmes focused on reproductive health among adolescents.
