Promoting Women's Leadership Roles within Ghanaian Local Government Councils: A Theoretical Framework in an African Context, 2010 Edition

Abstract

Ghanaian local government councils are facing challenges in promoting women's leadership roles despite efforts to increase female representation. A mixed-methods approach incorporating literature review, expert interviews, and case studies across various regions of Ghana. Theoretical insights suggest that a combination of policy reforms and community engagement strategies can effectively promote women's leadership in Ghanaian local government. Policy makers should prioritise gender-sensitive training for elected officials, while communities need to be educated on the benefits of female representation.
