Abstract

Senegal is a West African country where African philosophy has significant influence in academic and public discourse. A survey was conducted among 150 practicing Senegalese philosophers and ethicists to understand their perspectives on ethics in a global context. Approximately 76% of respondents identified a need for greater engagement between African philosophy and international ethical frameworks, highlighting the importance of cross-cultural dialogue. The findings underscore the potential for Senegalese philosophers to contribute more actively to global ethical debates by fostering deeper integration with Western philosophical traditions. Senegalese academic institutions should prioritise interdisciplinary collaborations that include African philosophy in their curriculum and research agendas.
